Employee Benefits Summary

Health Insurance
Group Health Insurance is available through United Healthcare for all eligible employees via weekly payroll deductions.  There are two options available:  an Open Access HMO plan and an Open Access POS plan. Highway Safety Devices pays $185-$225 per month towards the premium for every employee enrolled in either plan. This results in an annual benefit of $2,200-$2,700 to each participating employee.  Employees are eligible for enrollment upon the 61st day of continuous employment with Highway Safety Devices.

401K Retirement Plan
Highway Safety Devices strongly encourages its eligible employees to participate in the company sponsored 401K Retirement Savings Plan. Highway Safety Devices will match employee contributions up to 4% of their annual salary.  Employees are eligible for enrollment in the retirement savings plan upon one year of continuous employment with Highway Safety Devices.  (Employee must be at least 18 years of age to enroll).

Life Insurance
Highway Safety Devices offers a $15,000 employer paid life insurance policy for all eligible employees through United Healthcare.  Employees are enrolled upon the 61st day of continuous employment with Highway Safety Devices.

Dental Insurance
Dental Insurance is available through United Healthcare for all eligible employees via weekly payroll deductions.  There are two dental plan options available:  a Dental HMO plan and a Dental PPO plan.  Employees are eligible for enrollment upon the 61st day of continuous employment with Highway Safety Devices.

Vision Insurance
Vision Insurance is available for all eligible employees through United Healthcare via weekly payroll deductions.  Employees are eligible for enrollment upon the 61st day of continuous employment with Highway Safety Devices.

Paid Holidays
Employees are eligible for paid holidays upon the 91st day of continuous       employment.  The company’s paid holidays are as follows:

  • New Years Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Friday after Thanksgiving
  • Christmas Day

Paid Vacation
Employees can earn up to ten days of paid vacation during their employment with Highway Safety Devices. Please refer to the Highway Safety Devices Employee Manual for a detailed accrual schedule.

Paid Personal Days
As of the January of your fifth year of continuous employment with Highway Safety Devices, you will accrue one paid personal day off and continue to accrue one additional paid personal day off for each year thereafter with a cap of five days. Please refer to the Highway Safety Devices Employee Manual for details.

Payroll Direct Deposit
HSD offers our employees the benefit of direct deposit of payroll checks. This allows for a convenient and hassle-free way to receive your paycheck each week. With your authorization your paycheck will be automatically deposited directly into your bank account which relieves you from having to arrange time to personally pick up your paycheck from the HSD office. Deposits can be made into more than one bank account if requested. You will continue to receive a paycheck stub each week reflecting the total number of hours paid as well as any taxes and/or voluntary deductions made for the week. HSD encourages our employees to take advantage of this time saving and convenient employee benefit.
